coffee, cleaning and photo albums...

All of us grandchildren take turns going over to our grandparents house about once a week to help do yard work, clean, sweep, mop, have coffee ;) and sometimes take random photo albums down from the closet and learn a little more about Mom's childhood.

These family photos were taken while my Grandfather was in Vietnam. It was a very hard time for my Grandmother as she was learning English and raising their new little family in the US. She learned to sew, and made all my uncle's and mom's clothes......she said she didn't like them wearing the same clothes as the other children who's moms all shopped at the same local PX. :)

We had to go super early this week to get the yard and house work done, so we enjoyed morning coffee with Abuela. Her espresso maker died, so she's been making it like she grew up making it....in a pot and strainer. She was super surprised to hear us say that this way is actually "in" right now and much like the process of a French press. :)

I love these moments...
They are priceless...

  1. Such a great post, Anita...such a great day! We can never have enough sweet memories made with our amazing grandparents. We'll definitely have to show Abuela the French Press next time we go for morning coffee...I think she would be surprised with how much she would like it!
    Good times...
